1-CD with 40 pages booklet, 34 tracks, duration 86 minutes.
On March 5, 1963, three country musicians were killed in an accident. Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins wanted to fly to Nashville, but the Piper Comanche with an inexperienced pilot crashed in stormy weather just before the finish. There were no survivors.
Patsy Cline is still a superstar today; the names Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins are almost forgotten. Bear Family reminds us of these legendary singers with three new releases in the series 'Gonna Shack This Shack Tonight'.
His career dates back to the late thirties, and Lloyd'Cowboy' Copas is considered one of the most important country stylists. After signing a contract with King Records in 1946, Cowboy Copas became famous with a series of hit singles' his high baritone was a favorite in music boxes from the American Southeast to the Midwest. Although the majority of his songs were unadulterated country music, Cowboy Copas proved a versatility that few colleagues had. He recorded records with the big band of Elliot Lawrence and also edgy Rockabilly. This single CD presents Cowboy Copas' best tempo tracks for King Records, supplemented by rare material from his time for Dot Records.
