'The Complete D Singles', Volume Four, continues Bear Family's chronological reissue of every release on Pappy Daily's famed, Houston-based D Records, picking up where Volume Three left off with D 1159 in the summer of 1960. Like its predecessors, this four CD set showcases dozens of vintage early 1960s honky-tonk, including classic hits like Tony Douglas' Shrimpin' and Bill Carter's Shot Four Times And Dyin'. 'The Complete D Singles', Volume Four, also contains a few unsung classics, too, like some late period rockabilly like William Penix's raw You Take The Medicine (I'll Take The Nurse) and Slim Free's fantastic Scratchin'Off. The set also reissues for the first time the earliest recordings by 60s country hitmaker Earl Scott (and even the lone single by Scott's brother Jack Lionel, whose son John Batdorf would become one half of the successful rock duo Batdorf & Rodney). There are tracks from bluegrass legend Carl Sauceman, and western swing stalwart Merl Lindsay, among many others in all manner of styles in between, as well as several previously unissued tracks.
